I grew up in College Station and graduated form A&M Consolidated High School in 1967.
I subsequently attended Sam Houston State University and graduated in May of 1971 with a BBA in Business. I was commissioned in the US Army upon graduation.
I served for 12 years with duty in Germany, Turkey, and the United States.
While on active duty I completed a second degree in accounting from Cameron University
After my medical discharge from the Army, I purchased a Comprehensive Business Services franchise, and went into business with a bookkeeping, tax and consulting practice. I qualified for a license as an Enrolled Agent (EA) which is a taxpayer representative to the IRS. Practise as an EA requires a depth of knowledge of our tax system.
I sold my practice after 7 years in 1991 and went to work for my largest client, a residential new construction plumbing company. I worked mostly in several construction accounting positions as Controller, or as a tax professional until I retired in 2015.
I ran for office in the 113th House District in 1992. I was a member of the Garland Area Democratic Club. I served as President for a year, and as treasurer for many years.
I am married to the love of my life Beth, and I have two adult children and a granddaughter.
