Dickinson, TX – Richard Davis, a U.S. Army veteran, small business owner, and tax expert, proudly announces his candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives in Texas’ 14th Congressional District as a Democrat. On September 11, 2025, Davis launched his campaign with a passionate call to restore democratic values, promote economic prosperity, and champion equal rights for all.

“As a moderate, I believe in fiscal responsibility, a strong national defense, and the core values of the Democratic Party,” Davis said in his announcement speech. “I’m running to address the issues that matter most to our communities—money, equality, and the preservation of our democracy.”

Davis brings a wealth of experience to his candidacy. A 12-year veteran of the U.S. Army, discharged in 1984, he went on to own a Comprehensive Business Services franchise, operating a bookkeeping, tax, and consulting practice. As an Enrolled Agent (EA), Davis is a recognized expert in tax law, representing taxpayers before the IRS. He later served as a controller and tax preparer for one of the nation’s largest residential construction companies until his retirement in 2015.

“Money is a social issue that crosses all political borders,” Davis emphasized. “I know what it’s like to feel the squeeze as a small business owner, and I understand what it takes to build economic prosperity in our homes and communities. I’m ready to fight for policies that put people first and ensure fairness for every citizen.”

Davis highlighted the challenges facing the 14th District, including a 24.2-point partisan spread from recent redistricting. Despite the uphill battle, he remains optimistic: “It’s difficult, but not impossible. With your support, we can win and take back our district.”

His campaign will focus on engaging voters through grassroots efforts, including small gatherings inspired by Beto O’Rourke’s Senate campaign strategy. “I want to meet the people of this district, hear their concerns, and build momentum together,” Davis said.

Davis is committed to defending democratic principles, protecting voting rights, ensuring due process for all, and advocating for equal rights regardless of race, color, creed, or identity. He also supports a woman’s right to bodily autonomy and the rights of individuals to love who they choose.
